Hello my name is Elizabeth Foulke and I am thrilled to come on board as the senior editor of The Ocean State Review.  I’ve had the pleasure of learning some of the ins and outs of the Journal the past year and am excited to take on this new role. Our eighth edition will feature an extremely diverse and talented group of writers and artists. We  are featuring artwork by some of the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, poetry by Patricia Spears Jones, and nonfiction by Dawn Raffel.

My own area of study is the history and theory of the essay; specifically I am interested in the personal essay  and other forms of literary nonfiction. I find the wily nature of this genre allows for rich interplay between language and thought.

Putting the latest issue together would have been impossible without the guidance and expertise of Charles Kell. Charles graciously stayed on as the associate editor this year as he finishes up his dissertation.

Cheers!

Elizabeth
